2013 St. Pete Primary

Republican St. Pete Mayor Bill Foster came in first in the 2013 primary, but his 40% indicates trouble for his re-election. Foster is running in a city that gave Romney only 35% of the vote. Foster must over-perform Romney by 15 points in November. The map above show’s Foster’s gains over Romney. Foster’s biggest over-performance was strongest in African-American centers of the city. Foster no doubt benefited from low turnout and lack of party label to improve in these precincts. However, a FL DEM push in November will make Foster’s tough re-election almost impossible to overcome.
